Whitehead Road Elementary School
Clarke County School District
Collins Cooper Carusi Architects, Inc.
110,000 sq. ft.
Whitehead Road Elementary School was built to achieve a fresh and modern learning environment while still maintaining the aesthetic of the original structure. The exterior facade is brick and metal panel and the high vaulted roof is a Sarnafil Decor Roof System made to replicate a traditional metal roof.
The scope of work involved on the Whitehead Road Elementary project included a state-of-the-art media
center and art studio, roof top science terrace with a green roof garden for outdoor instruction, cafetorium with exposed buttresses, collaborative and adaptable teaching spaces for enhanced student interaction, learning labs, and a gymnasium. The overall layout of Whitehead Road Elementary plays on a strong connection to the nature around it and encourages outdoor learning.
