We began work on the new Augusta Ronald McDonald House, built in the center of the Medical Campus of Georgia Regents University, three years prior to actual construction. During design, R.W. Allen worked alongside board members and the design team to utilize the best materials and practices that the economy could provide to meet the non-profit’s budget. In addition to the construction of the three-story house for families of children undergoing treatment at Children’s Hospital of Georgia, the construction team stayed busy with the coordination of campus and hospital activities. Our experience working with GRU mad the integration of construction in this very busy part of campus seamless. Safety of the students, faculty and staff was a top priority.
After construction was completed, what was left was a beautiful three-story facility equiped with a lobby/ reception area, administrative offices, an elevator, parlor area with a fire place and toy closet, dining and living areas, a family kitchen with a shared pantry, play room, patio, conference room, and two (2) laundry rooms. The first floor of the Ronald McDonald House has two (2) suites, each with their own guest rooms and bathrooms. The second floor has ten (10) guest rooms for patients and the third floor has eleven (11) guest rooms for patients.
