The Athens-Clarke County East and West Police substations were some of the first LEED buildings constructed in the county. The projects occurred simultaneously and involved the construction of two (2) separate but identical buildings on different sites. After completion, the buildings were inspected and received a LEED Silver certification. The floor area of each of the East and West Police substations totaled approximately 5,100 sq. ft. The structures consisted of structural steel with an exterior combination of brick veneer, ground face block, and cast stone. Many USGBC certified materials and methods were utilized in order to achieve the LEED certification.
