The Zaxby’s project on Clayton Street was unique for the brand in that it was their first restaurant built alongside other stores instead of being a standalone building. The new Athens location is special to the Zaxby’s chain because it sits in the city that is home to the brand’s headquarters. The interior featured digital menu boards, seating for 84 customers, and and open kitchen so customers can see their food being made. Antique metal ceiling tiles and refurbished black tiles serve as part of the restaurant’s decor, with walls lined with wood paneling.
